SAMYRAD 2027 is an international conference dedicated to advancing the transformative use of artificial intelligence in higher education, workplace development and lifelong learning. Bringing together scholars, educators, researchers, university leaders, industry experts, policymakers, philosophers, and innovators from around the world, SAMYRAD creates a space where research, practice, technology, and policy meet to shape the future of education.
Taking place across Lisbon, Santarém, and the Óbidos–Peniche region of Portugal, SAMYRAD 2027 extends beyond the boundaries of a traditional academic conference. Across three dynamic days, participants will engage in keynote sessions, research presentations, expert panels, practical workshops, and interdisciplinary conversations designed not only to exchange knowledge, but to translate knowledge into action.
At the heart of SAMYRAD is a commitment to bridging academia, industry, philosophy, and policy. We believe that research achieves its greatest impact when academics understand the challenges facing society and industry, industry engages meaningfully with emerging research, and policymakers and philosophers participate in shaping environments where responsible innovation can thrive. SAMYRAD therefore creates deliberate opportunities for these communities to learn from one another, build partnerships, and develop solutions with relevance beyond the academic setting.
This vision culminates in a distinctive industry-led third day, where participants move beyond conventional conference sessions to engage directly with industry perspectives on emerging technologies, skills, innovation, and the evolving relationship between AI, education, and the future of work.
With a strong commitment to interdisciplinary and socially responsible research, SAMYRAD 2027 also continues its focus on the intersections between AI and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The summit encourages critical dialogue on how AI can contribute to quality education, equity and inclusion, lifelong learning, institutional resilience, sustainable development, and responsible innovation across diverse global contexts.
Whether you are a professor, researcher, university leader, industry professional, policymaker, EdTech innovator, or researcher, SAMYRAD 2027 offers more than a place to present your work. It is a space to learn, challenge ideas, build meaningful collaborations, and connect research with the people and sectors capable of turning it into impact.
Three locations. Three perspectives. One shared purpose: bringing academia, industry, and policy together to shape the future of education in the age of AI.
Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy
Valerio Capraro is Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of Milan-Bicocca, Italy. With a PhD in Mathematics, his interdisciplinary research integrates behavioural experiments, mathematical modelling, and numerical simulations to investigate human decision-making, cooperation, prosociality, and the mechanisms underlying social behaviour. His recent work increasingly explores the intersection of behavioural science and artificial intelligence, particularly how language and large language models can advance our understanding and prediction of human decision-making. His research has appeared in leading international journals, including Nature, Nature Human Behaviour, and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS), and has attracted substantial international media attention, including coverage by The New York Times, The Economist, The Washington Post, and The Guardian.
